Learn conservative and biologically sound 3D endodontic instrumentation and obturation using the latest advances in instrument design and filling materials.
Course Description
The root canal space is a highly complex system which makes efficient cleaning a daunting task. Many methods were proposed in the past, to improve the chemical effectiveness of irrigation solutions and the hydrodynamics of irrigants flow. These methods certainly improved the cleaning process, however still lack one fundamental aspect. Newly introduced endodontic instruments with significant departure from the conventional design, utilizing new NiTi wire technologies can offer a different concept, making the cleaning process faster and more efficient.
Although the main focus in endodontic research in the last three decades was on root canal instrumentation, effective and simple obturation of the root canal space is considered as important for endodontic success. In the last few years new Calcium Silicate based sealer materials have been introduced. These materials were incorporated into new techniques that are designed to simplify the obturation process and are considered more biologically compatible. The newer generation materials have demonstrated promising results, and can claim improved properties and clinical success.
The first part of the course will focus on the anatomy of the root canal space and demonstrate the limitations we have with conventional instruments. The second part will describe the use of conventional rotary endodontic instruments and the "new design" instruments. The third part will cover some of the newly introduced endodontic sealers, and the obturation techniques they can be used with.
