Part 1 – Gain of Keratinised Mucosa: Clinical Considerations and Regenerative Options

A/Prof Mehdi Valizadeh will present the scientific justification for regenerative management of sites with keratinised mucosal width deficiencies. In particular, the benefits and application of a Xenogeneic collagen matrix material (Mucograft®) will be presented, together with a step-by-step guide on the surgical management of clinical situations with narrow keratinised tissue width.

Part 2 – Treatment of a Single Maxillary Gingival Recession with a Coronally Advanced Flap (CAF)

Recessions are observed when the soft tissues recede apically from their original position at the cemento-enamel junction, thereby exposing the root surface and increasing the clinical crown height of the tooth. This can have a negative aesthetic impact, contribute to dental hypersensitivity, and may increase the risk of root surface caries. Surgical management principles and techniques will be presented.
