The aim of the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry is the promotion of knowledge and interest in the field or oral implantology. In 1990, to meet the education needs of practising dentists, a programme of training and accreditation was formulated. It was decided that three levels of training were required with examinations at the end of levelss II and III courses.

  • Level I provides a basic introduction to this exciting field.
  • Level II focuses on the basic sciences, as they apply to implant dentistry.
  • Level III emphasises the necessary clinical skills and insights needed to manage patients independently and competently.

Attendance at Levels I and II are not a prerequisite for attending Level III, but all courses must be completed and both exams passed before award of the certificate of accreditation can be made. So far over 1200 dentists have completed all three levels and have been awarded certificates in 18 series held since 1992.

Level III comprises 1 day hands-on with 6-8 different implant systems and 2 days of lectures.
