Cone Beam Computed Tomography 'CBCT' in daily practice hands-on course.

Join Dr Raahib Dudhia a specialist dental and maxillofacial radiologist and learn how to get the most out of our diagnostic imaging, or if there is a better way to visualise, diagnose and treat dental disease?

This course is perfect for dental professionals seeking to enhance their diagnostic capabilities and improve patient outcomes through advanced imaging techniques. Attendees will earn 8 Continuing Education (CE) credits upon completion of the course.

This comprehensive session aims to demystify the complexities of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) and other advanced imaging modalities. Participants will explore whether CBCT is the definitive tool for challenging dental cases or if it serves as an adjunct that complements other diagnostic methods.

Morning Theory Session

Join us from 08:30 to 13:30 for an immersive theory session at Southern Sydney Event centre. Dr. Dudhia will provide a thorough exploration of CBCT technology, its applications, and best practices. The morning session will cover:

  • Introduction to CBCT Technology: Gain a fundamental understanding of CBCT, including its development, functionality, and advantages over traditional radiography.
  • Radiation Doses: Learn about the radiation doses associated with CBCT and how to minimise exposure while maintaining diagnostic efficacy.
  • Clinical Uses and Indications for CBCT: Discover the various clinical scenarios where CBCT excels and how to determine when it is the appropriate imaging choice.
  • CBCT Protocol Selection and Image Quality: Understand the protocols for selecting the right CBCT settings and how to optimise image quality for accurate diagnosis.
  • Alternative Imaging Techniques: Explore other imaging modalities and techniques for cases where CBCT may not be the best option.
  • Identifying and Diagnosing Pathology Using CBCT: Develop skills to identify and diagnose dental and maxillofacial pathologies using CBCT images.

Afternoon Hands-on Session

The hands-on session will take place from 14:00 to 15:00 at Meili Dental Care, where participants will get practical experience with Meyer imaging equipment and software. This interactive session will include:

  • OPG/CBCT Patient Positioning Tips: Learn best practices for positioning patients to ensure optimal image quality.
  • CBCT Scan Protocol/Parameters Selection: Get hands-on experience in selecting the appropriate scan protocols and parameters for various clinical scenarios.
  • Tips for Improving Image Quality: Discover techniques to enhance image quality, reduce artefacts, and manage patient movement during scans.
