Throughout the years, restorative trends and techniques have come and gone. Some material developments have transformed the face of aesthetic dentistry, while other initial concepts have phased out and died. The planning and the execution of both the surgical and prosthodontic component of implantology has traditionally been regarded as a field reserved for the specialist or the truly gifted practitioner.

Emerging technologies and digital tools and workflows have however, resulted in the simplification of the many stages required to ensure a predictable and successful outcome in implant dentistry.

The scope of this lecture is to present and to highlight how digital technologies have allowed the simplification of the complete implant procedure, from the planning, the surgical, and then the prosthodontics phases.

Digital denture technology supports the clinician in efforts to reduce the clinical time required to produce a denture. Clinical procedures can be facilitated by digitally manufactured custom trays and recording devices. The integration of clinical data in available design software assures that the technician is designing dentures according to sound anatomic references. The CAD/CAM process, either printing or milling, provide accuracy to support excellence in denture fit and occlusion. The communication offered between clinician and technician in design and through prototypes that give patients direct feedback to proposed denture designs highlight the many advantages of digital denture technology, and will only enhance the close cooperation and working relationship of the dentist/technician restorative team. This lecture covers key components for the clinical and technical fabrication of a lab based digital denture utilizing a unique modular process, that offers the restorative team the ability to choose prosthetic materials based on the best combination for the patient.

    Evolution of general practice with CBCT

    • Lecture

    This lecture is titled the evolution of general practice because until we introduced a CBCT to our clinic we were still relying on diagnostic technology developed in the 1950’s.

    This lecture encompasses how the introduction of a cone beam has changed the way we diagnose, plan and treat our patients.

    It covers how it has changed our approach to endodontics, implants and oral surgery, periodontics and pathology through a series of case studies.

    We examine the benefits and pit falls of owning a CBCT as well as where the future is going to take us and how CBCT is going to become the standard of care.

    Make in house ortho aligners in one hour with Clear and Straight

    Just as the same day crown has become the norm, it is now possible with the use of digital technology to have patients leave the surgery with orthodontic aligners within an hour.
