The truth about digital setup for orthodontics

Digital setups are an essential tool in orthodontic diagnosis and planning of treatment whether it be fixed appliance therapy or aligner treatment. However, these setups can be described in many cases as “cartoonadontics”. We need to understand what can be achieved orthodontically and then how to design the correct force system to achieve our goal of therapy.

As a result of attending this dynamic presentation, you will understand:

  • What is achievable and what is just a pretty picture;
  • The most common mistakes in laboratory aligner setups and avoid them for your patients; and
  • More fully which aligner cases are low lying fruit and which you should avoid.

Micro layering: WHY & HOW - Handcraft start where technology ends

Digitalisation is changing dental technicians working methods and procedures in the laboratory. New production processes and materials require new techniques, working experience and technician skills.

Today Monolithic anterior and posterior restorations are more popular than ever. Advances in CAD/CAM and press technology and the development of new materials offer the possibility of producing predictably demanding dental restorations.

However, Monolithic restoration show limitations when producing individual high aesthetic anterior restorations.

Is it possible to achieve maximum aesthetic results with minimal effort in all-ceramic Monolithic restorations? Yes, Micro layering combines efficiency with aesthetics and cost-effectiveness and is the perfect synergy between the analogue & digital world in your daily practice.

Micro layering creates in a very small ceramic layer thickness of 0.3-0.8 mm a restoration with more brilliance, aesthetic and a natural depth effect with homogenous natural surface and Fluorescence.

If you want to know how easy it is to control the complexity of all-ceramics with micro-layering technique, then I would like to invite you to discover where technology ends and Handcraft starts.

                  • Lecture

The efficiency and benefits of CAD/CAM technology are fast gaining traction in prosthetic dentistry to produce functional, aesthetically pleasing restorations for our patients. Now, more than ever before, a thorough understanding from both clinicians and technicians is required to achieve the optimal results from this developing digital technology.

Ivoclar's Biofunctional Prosthetic System (BPS) is unique in prosthetic dentistry as it not only provides high quality materials, equipment and technique for the production of functional restorations; but equally caters for the most important aspect of the treatment - clinical records.

Accurate recording of the remaining oral structures and clinically developing a 3D oral template from which all digital and technical decisions will be made, is paramount to successful outcomes.

In this two-part presentation, David will give an overview of the BPS system from an analogue and digital perspective, and the relationship the clinical records have to the digital process.

Micro layering: WHY & HOW - Handcraft start where technology ends

                  • Lecture

                  • Lecture

Zirconia is now indispensable as a material for highly aesthetic, durable prosthetic restorations. Due to its exceptional fracture toughness, wear resistance and biocompatibility, the high-tech ceramic was used in hip-joint prosthetics. Because of its tooth-like colour, zirconia became increasingly important in dentistry towards the end of the 1990s, where it is often the restoration material of choice thanks to its optical adaptability, stability and range of indications.

However, how zirconia is manufactured and tested is important to the end result. As not all zirconia is the same!

With its broad portfolio of zirconia blanks, Amann Girrbach offers the right material for virtually every permanent indication to enable the fabrication of restorations with long term stability and natural aesthetics both economically and efficiently.
