How effective are you in treating Trismus and TMJ dysfunction? Dry Needling can assist recovery.
Dry Needling is widely applied in the treatment of TMJD and Orofacial musculoskeletal conditions. Dentists are first line contact for TMJD and orofacial conditions. Detailed musculoskeletal and neural assessment of the TMJ and Orofacial muscles can lead to better outcomes with application of Dry Needling in pain management and release of trigger points.
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Perform a neuro-musculoskeletal assessment of patients with TMJD
- Locate Myofascial Trigger points
- Discuss the neuroanatomy of the cervical, temporal and mandibular regions in order differentially diagnose TMJD headaches and cervicogenic headaches
- Discuss the management of patients with temperomandibular disorders (TMD) and temperomandibular related headache.
- To apply dry needling safely and effectively in patients with TMJD, orofacial conditions, TMJD related headache
