A six-day course including two days of cadaver experience with advanced bone grafting

This course provides 13 hands-on sessions including models and fresh frozen cadaver specimens. Lecture material covers patient examination and treatment planning in great detail. Surgical instrumentation and techniques include suturing finesse, guide utilisation, anatomy, radiology, flap manipulations and implant placement in all areas of the mouth. Tissue and bone management is emphasised in an approachable and usable manner. By the week's end, participants prepare and place over 25 implants in many different model and cadaver procedures.

The last day is an advanced course using additional implants, drilling equipment, bone scrapers and simulated bone graft materials. This adds additional hands-on experience and aids in overcoming surgical hesitance. The excitement of this course carries conversations right through the activities and breaks!

Upon completion of this course, participants are typically able to:

  • Evaluate and case plan a patient for implant surgery
  • Know fundamentals of incision design, execution and suturing
  • Understand fabrication and utilisation of surgical and radiographic guides
  • Utilise a variety of flap designs
  • Utilise a variety of surgical instrumentation
  • Be proficient in drilling sequences
  • Avoid common errors, and precisely position implants for restorative ease
  • Identify case difficulty
  • Be familiar with ridge splitting procedures, bone harvesting from the chin and ramus
  • Be familiar with sinus anatomic relations, osteotome and open sinus procedures
  • Practice flap advancement, detensioning and suturing on cadaver specimens

Breakfast, lunch, gourmet breaks, 13 hands-on sessions, two days of working on cadaver specimens and supplies are all included. The participant will need to bring only a surgical instrument kit and loupes or safety glasses. A surgical kit may be purchased at special course pricing.
