The course will start with a lecture that will cover the biological background necessary to make appropriate tooth preparations for CAD-CAM all-ceramic restorations.

Different ceramics available for CAD-CAM restorations will be classified, in order to assess the properties of different materials.

Advantages and disadvantages will be discussed. Afterwards several clinical cases fully documented in high resolution will be presented, showing a wide array of preparation techniques and cementation materials and protocols. Special emphasis will be given in how we should really prepared; specifically how retentive and how rounded the preparations should be.

After the morning lecture the hands-on section will start. First, preparation guides will be practically given and an inlay, onlay and overlay will be done.

The afternoon session will start with a lecture about the improvements during recent years in aesthetic abutments. Zirconia pre-formed-stock abutments, tailor-made abutments, Fluorapatite fluorescent collars, zirconia and lithium disilicate chairside hybrid abutments and hybrid abutments crowns will be shown from an historical perspective with their advantages and disadvantages.

Afterwards, the hands-on section will show how to design the hybrid abutment and the crowns with a CAD-CAM system. It will also show how to make it manually with analog blocks and stock abutments and with the software integrated ti-bases from different brands.
