The panoramic image, often referred to as an OPG, is complex and contains a large amount of information. Diagnostic information can be overlooked and ‘lost’ amongst the many superimpositions in the image.
It is essential that practitioners needing to interpret panoramic radiographs be familiar with how normal osseous, soft and dental hard tissue anatomy is represented in the image. An understanding of the inherent image distortions is also important. Registrants will be provided with some pre-reading and radiographic anatomy exercises prior to the seminar to enhance their diagnostic skills.
This evening seminar will allow practitioners to:
- recognise positioning errors
- distinguish between normal and abnormal
- explore the appearance of the normal and diseased temporomandibular joint
- recognise common pathologies, both odontogenic and non-odontogenic pathology
- assess impacted third molars.
