Event Details...

This is a licensing exam held by Professor Paul Monsour which is only an ad hoc arrangement on a customer request basis. Please contact the UQ School of Dentistry CPD Office for further information.

The examination is suitable for dentists, oral health therapists, dental therapists, dental hygienists and dental assistants (Cert IV qualified with Radiography)* requiring an intra-oral radiography licence from Radiation Health Queensland.<.p>

After successfully completing the exam the candidate will be issued with a certificate of proficiency in intra-oral radiography. This certificate will enable the candidate to apply for an intra-oral radiography licence from Radiation Health Queensland.

The examination will have two parts:

Theory component:

  1. Production of x-rays
  2. Biological effects of ionizing radiation
  3. Digital and analogue systems
  4. Techniques
  5. Positioning errors
  6. Processing errors
  7. Radiation hygiene

Practical component:

  1. Taking a Periapical radiograph
  2. Taking a Bite-winged radiograph
  3. Processing a film

Obtaining a certificate of proficiency in intra-oral radiography is no guarantee that Radiation Health Queensland will issue an intra-oral licence, as the final decision rests with Radiation Health Queensland.

Please note: Dental assistants who completed their Cert IV in Dental Assisting (Dental Radiography stream) in QLD are required to supply a copy of their Certificate on the day of the exam. Dental assistants who completed their Cert IV in Dental Assisting interstate are required to supply a copy of their Certificate as well as a transcript or record of results as proof that they have successfully completed three Radiography electives on the day of the exam.
