As the growing epidemic of sleep-related breathing disorders continues to affect millions of people of all ages, practitioners worldwide have become more cognisant of their important role in management and prevention of these health issues. This was internationally recognised in September 2018 when the World Dental Federation (FDI) publicly highlighted the important role dentists must play in prevention, early screening and treatment of sleep-related breathing disorders moving forward. Sleep-related breathing disorders continue to be a major cause of morbidity for millions of patients around the globe.
Exactly thirty years ago, MRC CEO and Founder Dr Chris Farrell designed and developed the first prefabricated myofunctional appliances for orthodontic treatment and TMJ disorder. The fundamental principle behind these appliances was to treat the underlying causes of malocclusion, which was airway dysfunction, and poor myofunctional habits.
By upholding these core principles for three decades, MRC has continually developed and released myofunctional appliances and treatment systems to allow dental and medical practitioners to provide simple and effective treatments which enhance their patients’ quality of life. The treatment systems have been adopted by practitioners in over 100 countries and utilised to successfully treat millions of patients.
The evolution of MRC’s appliances and treatment principles continues, which now includes the Myobrace®, Myosa® and newly developed Myotalea® systems.
