In current dental practice many patients request the use of direct tooth coloured restorations. In many instances this provides a challenge to the operator when the restorations are large, access and isolation is difficult, or if the patient has high aesthetic demands. This course will look at techniques for restoring posterior teeth with composite resin and managing all restorations - from small interproximal to larger more complex restorations - to achieve an aesthetic, functional outcome efficiently. Hands-on workstations will be available for attendees to access during breaks and at the conclusion of the lecture.
Course Outcomes:
The full-day presentation is designed to assist the clinician in optimising successful clinical outcomes for posterior composite restorations.
Topics that will be covered include:
• Preparation design and options for management of posterior interproximal lesions
• Selection of appropriate restorative materials
• Bases, linings and ‘sandwich’ restorations
• Minimising post-operative sensitivity
• Matrix systems and ensuring good interproximal contacts and contours
• Simplifying large restorations
• Use of chairside indirect techniques for composite restorations
• Managing badly broken down dentitions and multiple restorations
• Finishing and polishing restorations
