This second part of Overcoming Back and Neck pain in Dental Surgery is an advanced workshop and is designed to further assist dentists, who attended the full day workshop, with recognition of harmful habitual movement and posture patterns and the steps to optimum musculoskeletal health.

There will be practical demonstrations, experiential training and opportunities to practise optimal movements and postures in clinical situations, where habitual movement and posture patterns are most ingrained. Habit change requires repetition and reinforcement of new neuromuscular pathways, otherwise habitual movement patterns and harmful dental work postures persist.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognise harmful movement and posture habits during clinical practice
  • Apply essential movement and posture principles to co-operate with biomechanical design at work and daily life
  • Understand the importance of Inner and Outer Ergonomics
  • Acquire and apply techniques to change dental work postures from habitual to optimal
