Neoss Australia & New Zealand invites you to attend our third SMS Neoss - Navigating the Future conference in May 2019 on the beautiful Queensland Gold Coast.

As we understand the importance of connections and long-lasting relationships SMS Neoss will once again bring together clinicians and academics from around the world to present state-of-the-art implant dentistry to discuss current and future trends in surgery and prosthodontics.

The conference is to facilitate and support clinician’s development and share treatment experiences that can ultimately improve dental implant treatment and outcomes for our patients.

During the meeting our speakers will demonstrate how innovation is showing results in practice, bone regeneration and the fast paced world of digital dentistry.

Special room rates have been organised for the duration of the conference. Rooms will be prices at A$349 (inc GST) per night including buffet breakfast.

Bookings should be made directly with the hotel.

8.40 - 9.30 • Session 1

Does implant design influence clinical success?

Does design principles and surface topography have an influence on the clinical performance of implants from placement to long-term clinical function with regard to stability, healing, marginal bone resorption and survival?

9.30 - 10.15 • Session 2

Long-term marginal bone response to dental implants

For a good long-term esthetic outcome and to avoid peri-implantitis, it is most important that marginal bone can be maintained around the implant. Patient evaluation, the right drill protocol dependent on different bone qualities, GBR technique where needed, the right implant position and good keratinized soft tissue are crucial. The presentation will have a focus on the speaker's clinical experiences and on his investigations.

10.15 - 10.45 • Morning tea

10.45 - 11.30 • Session 3

Soft and hard tissue maintenance around dental implants; long-term follow-up

This presentation will discuss the considerations for improved success of dental implants when considering soft/hard tissue grafting, patient factors and periodontal/peri-implant management. Pre-implant planning and alternative options will also be discussed. Long-term follow-up of crestal bone levels and peri-implant health will be considered with case examples.

11.30 - 12.15 • Session 4

Early implant failure and its determinants: Results from a large multicentre cohort

The development of modern implant systems over recent decades has made osseointegration highly predictable. Even though early failure rates of dental implants are now consistently reported to be low, there is marked variation between studies. Large practice-based cohort studies are required to explore reasons for this variability. This presentation will report results of a prospective cohort study on early failure rates of implants placed in a large practice-based network in Europe. The results confirm that the absolute risk of early implant failure is low; however, a number of clinical determinants of early implant failure can be identified and will be discussed.

12.15 - 13.15 • Lunch

13.15 - 14.00 • Session 5

Determining appropriate implant prosthetic solutions

We make prosthetic decisions every day when restoring dental implants. I will talk about choosing appropriate materials for longevity and biocompatibility, methods of manufacture and the importance of effective provisionalisation and how they effect the long term success of our treatment. Also methods for cleaning components before insertion or after temporary removal and how this may effect bone levels.

14.00 - 14.45 • Session 6

Complete implant rehabilitation in the digital era

The digital era has helped shape modern dentistry with evolving planning software and prosthetic solutions. The lecture will discuss some new concepts and evolving trends involving the edentulous arch. Whether performing conventional or alternative techniques , the goal is still to maintain a prosthetic outcome which is in harmony with the face, lips and smile. A short review of the literature together with case series will be presented.

14.45 - 15.30 • Session 7

What 30 years of implant-based restorative care has taught me

This presentation will take a reflective look at the last 30 years of implant dentistry and challenge our traditional clinical decision making. The intent is to raise awareness of how the industry may influence the market place and give a better understanding of implantology as a restorative option and offer a pragmatic approach to avoiding complications.

15.30 - 16.00 • Afternoon tea

16.00 - 17.00 • Session

Emerging issues with implant restorations - Some inconvenient truths beyond cement!

There is still a preconceived notion that bone is the most important issue for long- term health of the implant and as long as it is present in sufficient quantity and quality, the dental implant will remain in health. Information is coming to light that casts some doubt on this belief, as soft tissue quality and quantity may be important along with precision in the connection between the dental implant with its abutment and restorative suprastructure. This lecture will elucidate emerging considerations for long term health of the dental implant and its restoration.

18.00 - 21.30 • PARTY! - MOVIE WORLD
