Surgical Implant Program

The Surgical Implant Program is designed to introduce the novice to implant and bone graft surgery, as well as for experienced implant practitioners who will greatly enhance their knowledge and skills of this aspect of implant dentistry. The latest surgical techniques, including PiezoSurgery, are taught. Participants are encouraged to perform these surgeries on their own patients under supervision.

5 surgical implant training courses are distributed throughout the year to maximise your learning experience. The information is contemporary and evidence based. The course order allows for a confident progression of surgical skill and knowledge of these facets of implant surgery.

Surgical 4

This implant course encompasses the surgical approach to and treatment planning of the posterior maxilla, which includes sinus elevation and sinus surgery complications. A live surgical demonstration is included. Sinus labs will be undertaken prior to supervised surgery.

• Describe and perform the sinus graft procedure in the edentulous posterior maxilla.
• Understand the "keys to bone grafting" as applied to sinus elevations.
• Understand the different categories of bone grafting materials and their role in the sinus graft protocol.
• Recognize the differences between sinus lift and sinus graft procedures.
• Learn the steps to perform a sinus lift surgery with predictable results.
• List the treatment options to provide fixed prosthetic support for prosthesis in maxillary posterior edentulous sites.
• Describe the maxillary sinus anatomy.
• Diagnose the types of pathology most often observed in the maxillary sinus.
• Recognize four different gingival approaches to the treatment of bone grafting in the posterior maxillary edentulous region.
• Compare the surgical approach of bone condensation or compression with bone extraction techniques in conjunction with implant placement.
• Describe implant body surface conditions and list the advantages and disadvantages of each condition.
