Presented by Australian & New Zealand Academy of Orofacial Pain (ANZAOP) with Associate Professor Gary Klasser DMD,Cert.Orofacial Pain
Course Venue: The Royce, 379 St Kilda Road, Melbourne VIC
ANZAOP is an organisation of health care professionals dedicated to alleviating pain and suffering through the promotion of excellence in education, research and patient care in the field of orofacial and associated disorders.
Course overviewFor most general practitioners when a patient presents with TMJ pain we automatically prescribe an occlusal splint and hope that it works. However it is important that we carry out a comprehensive history and examination and actually establish a diagnosis.
As undergraduates we learn anatomy and physiology of the masticatory system and then on graduation we seem to forget it all. This course will guide you through an evidence-based treatment approach of your patient with temporomandibular disorders, as a clinician in practice.
Topics to be covered will include:
- Classification of TMDs
- Normal Function of the Masticatory System
- Dysfunction of the Masticatory System – TMJ
- Dysfunction of the Masticatory System - Muscle
- Management Strategies
- Sleep Bruxism
- Botulinum Toxin use for TMDs
- Electronic Instrumentation
- Occlusion and TMDs
- Splint Therapy
- Q & A
