For many general practitioners when a patient presents with TMJ pain we automatically prescribe an occlusal splint and hope that it works. However, it is important that we carry out a comprehensive history and examination to establish a diagnosis.

As under graduates we learn anatomy and physiology of the masticatory system and then on graduation we seem to forget it all. This course will guide you through an evidence-based treatment approach of your patient with temporomandibular disorders as a clinician in practice.

Associate Professor Garry Klasser comes to Adelaide from the School of Dentistry at the Louisiana State University, to present this full-day lecture course which will explore a range of topics and updates including:

  • Classification of Temporomandibular Disorders
  • Normal Function of the Masticatory System
  • Dysfunction of the Masticatory System - TMJ
  • Dysfunction of the Masticatory System - Muscle
  • Management Strategies
  • Sleep Bruxism
  • Botulinum toxin use for Temporomandibular Disorders
  • Electronic Instrumentation
  • Occlusion and Temporomandibular Disorders
  • Splint therapy
