Hear from three presenters on how to confidently provide a stress-free experience for your patients.

Feel confident providing adhesive dentistry

Presented by Dr Kunal Pandya

There are complexities and nuances involved with provision of ceramic and other bondable restorations.

You will learn:

  • the correct application and indications for ceramic restorations
  • how to confidently apply preparation and cementation principles.

Inserting crowns and bridges can sometimes be a stressful procedure – why make it any more difficult?

Presented by Dr Bevan Chong

Tooth-borne crowns and bridges comprise a sizeable proportion of fixed prosthodontic treatment provided by most dental practitioners. The ability to deliver these restorations in a stress-free manner not only makes life easier for the practitioner, but also for the patient and technician/ceramist. This presentation will cover record-taking at the time of tooth preparation, inspection of crowns/bridges upon their return from the laboratory, clinical inspection of crowns/bridges prior to their insertion, as well as tips to make insertion of crowns/bridges a less stressful procedure.

You will learn:

  • which records are required at the time of tooth preparation to ensure the technician/ceramist is able to provide the prescribed restoration
  • which features of crowns and bridges need to be reviewed when receiving them from the laboratory
  • the clinical steps involved in checking laboratory work, and if necessary rectified prior to insertion
  • how to use different cementation techniques depending on the type of restoration being inserted.

Implant crowns

Presented by Dr Simon Wylie

Implant crowns can cause headaches on the day of crown insertion, often disappointing patients from an aesthetic perspective and frustrating clinicians when things don’t go well. There are some unique challenges to implant supported crown delivery.

The perfect delivery of an implant crown is probably a rare event and the art of delivering implant crowns is to minimise the complications that can occur, and to reduce the day-to-day stress in clinical practise. As implant hardware has evolved, there are tips and tricks that can help to identify where any misfits are coming from. Conventional crown and bridge have always presented challenges on the day of crown delivery. Implant crown insertion has a whole new range of potential issues unique to this concept of restoration. Explore some of the more frequent issues to help identify problems and sort them in a logical way.

Learn how to:

  • identify unique issues of implant crowns
  • attempt to get a chronological checklist for insertion procedures
  • identify the risks and the ‘bewares’
  • be confident with implant crown delivery.
