Course Description - Day 1 (Wax up) : Mastering Wax-ups & Diagnostics
Understanding tooth morphology is paramount to success and waxups are a fundamental tool for diagnosis and communication. Wax-up is also great if you want to improve your skills about shape, morphology and texture. If you learn with wax how to create a beautiful tooth, then you can complete the same with other materials.
Learning Objectives
- Select the right armamentarium including type of wax and tools
- How to determine incisal edge position as a key element for diagnostic wax-ups
- Anatomy and morphology of the upper central, lateral and canine
What to bring
Participants are required to bring their normal wax-up tools to the workshop.
Course Description - Day 2 (CAD/CAM Stain & Glaze) : CAD/CAM Master Course
Today CAD-CAM is one of the fastest growing areas in Dentistry. It is important to familiarise yourself with which areas need attention to detail to achieve outstanding restorations.
Software engineers provide amazing tooth libraries and great tools for designing a tooth, but we still need to be aware of what is possible, what is not true to nature, and what adjustments are necessary for a great outcome.
After we finalise the shape and surface morphology, the next step is the art of staining and glazing.
Ivoclar Vivadent have great CAD-CAM Stains and Glazes, but to achieve an outstanding result, it is still challenging if you do not know how to apply the material correctly. With incorrect techniques, you can ruin both your shade and morphology. The final step is manual polishing, since the lustre of natural enamel is delicate, we can only hope to reach similar results with correct manual polishing procedures.
On this course, I will share my 20+ years of experience with morphology and ceramic materials.
Learning Objectives
- Understanding tooth anatomy
- Choosing the right shape for the patient
- How to create margins for long-term success
- Grinding and polishing IPS e.max and other glass ceramic materials
- Shaping, how to alter a shape to get a different appearance
- Macro and micro morphology - texture and the small details
- Functional anatomy and guidance
- Staining and glazing
- Final mechanical polishing
What to bring
Participants should bring their normal ceramic/stain brushes, and loupes to the workshop.
