WHY THIS COURSE

If you refer CBCT or even see them in your practice, you need to be aware of your responsibilities for ordering, recording and interpreting CBCT.

This short course - by two acknowledged experts - one in Radiology and legal aspects of dental practice- is a unique opportunity to gain an understanding of these issues.

BDSc (hons). He completed a PhD in Oral Biology in 1987 and a Masters degree in Oral

Professor Monsour was the first registered specialist in Oral & Maxillofacial radiology

working in full time private practice on the East coast of Australia. Professor Monsour lectures extensively throughout Australia on all aspects of DMF radiology. Appointed

the Foundation Professor of DMFR at the University of Queensland in 2009. Paul is an

associate member of the RANZCR and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.

Panoramic radiography continues to be the corner stone of extra-oral dental imaging, but cone beam imaging is showing amazing uptake by dentists worldwide. Panoramic radiographs are still an excellent way to assess the dentition, supporting bone and the dentomaxillofacial region. The theory and interpretation of panoramic radiographs will be covered in detail and you will be able to apply new knowledge to the interpretation of panoramic radiographs the very next working day. All aspects of cone beam imaging will be covered in a series of lectures looking at the theory, applications, limitations and interpretation of cone beam data sets.

Hands-on component: Those attending will be provided with a series of panoramic radiographs, a series of worked up CB cases and a small number of CB data sets to work through on a laptop and record their findings. At the end of the session, each case will be discussed by the presenter.

  1. Taking the best Rotational Panoramic radiographs possible – 30 minutes

  2. Interpretation of Panoramic radiographs – 60 minutes

  3. Theory of Cone Beam Volumetric Tomography – 40 minutes

  4. Limitations of Cone beam VT – 30 minutes

  5. Applications of Cone Beam VT – 60 minutes

  6. Review of opacities demonstrated on OPGs and Cone beam data sets – 80

    minutes

  7. Hands on interpretation – Panoramic radiographs and CB cases – 120 minutes
