Dr James Douglas is a Sleep and Thoracic Physician with diverse clinical and research interests.
He graduated from the University of Queensland with honours in 1990 and completed his Basic and Advanced Training in Thoracic Medicine in Brisbane in 1998. Director of the Sleep Disorders Centre at The Prince Charles Hospital since 2002.
Dr Douglas has a wide range of interests in sleep medicine especially examining simplified models of care for treating patients with obstructive sleep apnoea. Dr Douglas has extensive experience in the management of patients requiring long term non-invasive ventilation and care of patients with respiratory involvement from their neuromuscular disease.
Dr Douglas has a keen interest and expertise in the management of non-respiratory sleep disorders including insomnia, restless legs syndrome, parasomnias and narcolepsy.
He is a strong advocate for improving community awareness of sleep health and taking a holistic approach to the management of sleep disorders. He has served on a number of state and national committees of the Australasian Sleep Association, Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
