John is an Orthodontist a visiting specialist with ACT Dental Health Program and the Cleft Lip and Palate clinic at The Canberra Hospital. He completed his orthodontic training at The University of Sydney and is a Fellow by examination of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and a Member in Specialist Dental Practice.

He recently completed a PhD at the ANU on the topic of CPD in dentistry. John is also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, International Dental Academy and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

John has presented lectures in both Australia and overseas on his research into 3D imaging and the clinical use of glass ionomer cements. John has maintained a strong interest in orthodontics for the younger patient and contributed Chapters on Orthodontics in all four editions of A Handbook of Paediatric Dentistry by Cameron and Widmer (Eds) on the topic of mixed dentition treatment.

In 2010 he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for services to dentistry.
