Dr Ken Hooi is a Prosthodontist registered with the Dental Board of Australia. Ken's professional experience prior to specialist training included thirteen years in private and public hospital practice. During this time, he spent extended periods in various roles providing minor oral surgery (Sydney Dental Hospital), prosthodontic and implant dentistry services (private practices in Sydney CBD and Bathurst).
In 2003, eleven years after becoming a dentist, Ken completed his Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Oral Implants). In 2009, after completing his Master of Dental Science (Prosthodontics), Ken became the second dental specialist in Australia to hold both implant and prosthodontic coursework degrees.
Ken's competence and commitment with teaching has been recognised by the University of Sydney Faculty of Dentistry. He is retained in five different roles within the faculty, in both teaching and advocate positions. In 2011, after six years of participation as a presenter in Continuing Education in Dentistry's Extended Fixed Prosthodontics, Ken became Course Convenor and in 2012 expanded the programme from four to five days.
In April 2013, Ken entered a two-year term as Federal President of the Australian Prosthodontic Society.
Ken's special interests in dentistry include management of complex rehabilitation and development of clinical decision support systems and services.
