Philip Tan is a registered specialist prosthodontist in Melbourne, AUSTRALIA. He completed his undergraduate education in Melbourne before working in general practice in West Gippsland. After a further year of study in the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Dentistry program, Philip then travelled to the USA for his specialist prosthodontic training. A further two years was spent working in the USA and teaching at the University of Iowa.
Since graduation Philip has published multiple papers and lectured on a variety of scientific and clinical topics including treatment planning decisions, restorative techniques for compromised teeth, use of ceramics with implants, magnification for prosthodontics and the accuracy of CAD/CAM systems. Several prosthodontic awards have been received as a result of these endeavours.
Philip is an active reviewer for the Journal of Prosthodontics, a forum moderator for the ADAVB, reviewer for the Dental Board of Australia and a prosthodontic post-graduate student examiner for the University of Melbourne. Philip is also a visiting Prosthodontist at the Royal Children’s hospital providing treatment for children with a variety of congenital dental disorders.
Philip has been back in Melbourne since 2006 and currently works in full time private practice in Cheltenham and enjoys providing all aspects of prosthodontic care. Philip’s current interest is the implementation of digital technology to everyday practice and is currently involved in several research projects.
