Dr Ryan Lee is the Head of Periodontology at the University of Queensland, School of Dentistry where he leads the undergraduate and postgraduate specialist training programs. 

Ryan currently combines the academic position with his part time specialist practice in periodontology and implant dentistry. He has published in the peer-reviewed international journals, and regularly lectures nationally internationally. Ryan has strong research interests in clinical periodontology, diabetes, wound healing, periodontal and bone regeneration, and 3D printed ridge reconstruction. For his research achievement, Ryan was recently awarded the André Schroeder Research Prize in Implant Dentistry (ITI) in 2022. 

Ryan is a Federal councillor of QLD and Vice-President for Australian Society of Periodontics (ASP-Federal). Also he is serving as a Honorary Secretary for International Association for Dental Research (IADR-ANZ Division). Ryan is the editor-in-chief for the Australian Journal of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (AJPID).
