David is head of the School of Dentistry & Health Sciences, Charles Sturt University, Australia. He formerly held the post of Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, School of Dentistry,International Medical University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His previous academic posts have been held in the Middle East (United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia), Australia (University of Adelaide) and Canada (Universities of Manitoba and Saskatchewan). He is a dentistry graduate of the University of Otago New Zealand. David has almost 30 years of academic undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience in oral pathology. His academic activities have been underpinned by active and ongoing specialist diagnostic oral histopathology practice and research. He has also held various senior academic administrative posts in universities around the world and has had extensive involvement with professional dental and medical bodies in the contexts of academic-profession interactions, committee roles and continuing education. His research activities and interests include the areas of oral cancer, the temporomandibular joint, oral diseases and forensic odontology. These activities are refl ected in publications plus conference and continuing education presentations. Educational development interests include the application of digital technology in the biomedical sciences.
