Prof. Leonardo Trombelli is the Chair of the Periodontology Department within the School of Dentistry at the University of Ferrera, whilst also concomitantly serving as the Dean of the Dental School. He also serves as the Director of both the Research Centre for the Study of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Disease at the University of Ferrera, and the Dental Clinic at the University Hospital. He has previously served as the President of the Medical School at the University of Ferrera (2014-2016), as well as the President of the Italian Society of Osseointegration (2007-2009).

Prof. Trombelli is an active member of the Italian Society of Periodontology, Italian Academy of Osseointegration, International Association for Dental Research. He serves on the Editorial Boards for the Journal of Clinical Periodontology (2000-present), Journal of Dental Research (2018-2021), as well as serving as a member of the peer-review panel for the Journal of Periodontology. Prof Trombelli maintains a private practice limited to Periodontology and Oral Surgery.
